Abstract

Description
In this episode we dive deep into how FSC and legislation compliance fits together – and how much it should. During the last years we have – finally some might say – seen legislators increasingly develop and pass rule sets to safeguard forests, consumer interests and mitigate climate change. But what happens to a voluntary system like FSC, when these legislations get adopted and there is a gap between what the rules of law require and how we do things – do we adjust to fit? That is the topic of this podcast, made perhaps more relevant than ever by the upcoming legislation European Deforest Regulation – or EUDR. And to help me learn more about what is up and down, I’ve invited Kim Carstensen, our CEO and Anand Punja, our Chief Engagement and Parterships Officer. Please note that this episode does not contain detailed information on how FSC will support certificate holders with EUDR compliance. The reason for that is very simple: The legislative text has yet to be finalized. And as a result, we cannot yet communicate how and when FSC will support. Once the text is finalized, we will do a full episode, which will be tangible.
