Description
Smallholders and community forests play a key role in combatting climate change but only a fraction of them are certified to FSC. What is FSC doing to change that fact and make our system more relevant to this very important group of forest owners? That is the focus of this episode featuring Vera Santos, the program manager for New Approaches in FSC – a program aimed at developing solutions to make FSC more accessible for smallholders and communities worldwide. Vera will explain more about the solutions they are testing currently, like contractor certification, modular approach to certification and improvements to the group certification standard. She will also dive deeper into why we need different solutions for each region but how they can inform each other and still all fit under FSC.
