Abstract

The UK could be on the brink of becoming the first country in the world to start work on a carbon capture and storage (CCS) equipped industrial cluster. Located in the north east of England in a region known as Teesside, this industrial hub is home to some of the UK's largest emitters of CO2. At the same time the region provides jobs and training and produces raw material that puts the UK on the world stage for innovation and development. Here Sarah Tennison, Low Carbon Economy Manager at Tees Valley Unlimited, talks to GHGS&T about the Teesside Collective project and explains that this is not just an option, it is a must.
