Illegal logging in the Democratic Republic of the Congoen
This paper presents an assessment of levels of illegal logging and related trade in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the state of forest governance, and the response from the government and private sector to the issue of illegal logging. Using both primary research and secondary sources, the study assesses the situation using a set of standardized indicators previously developed by Chatham House, including: an assessment of the countrys policy framework and enforcement; an experts perception survey; wood balance analysis; trade data analysis; assessment of media coverage; and an assessment of levels of certification and legality verification.en
